Writing, revisited.

October 12th, 2005 at 12:01 pm (Fiction, Site News)

I realized today, during my search through saved academic stuff to find writing samples for grad school apps, that when I posted “In Series,” I didn’t post the revised version of it. I also realized that some of my other workshopped stories aren’t embarrassingly bad, so I think I’m going to revise them and put them up sometime in the near future. That’s my standard: one notch above “embarrassingly bad” is the minimum for posting to the site. I might also put up an academic paper or two–the more interesting ones, anyway.

I’ve also been working on the arrangement for my next recording project. Unfortunately the burden of grad school apps and cramming for the GRE subject test is making it rather unlikely I’ll get around to the actual recording part any time soon (i.e. before apps are in; most of them are due either in mid-December or around New Year’s). Still, something to look forward to, maybe.

(art) objects in space

July 11th, 2005 at 2:47 am (Site News)

At some point I’d like to have this embedded in the main page, but for now, here is a brief listing of the things I’m currently reading/listening to/watching/meditating on/etc. With any luck I’ll remember to keep it updated, which should be no small task given the speed with which I’m breezing through my to-read shelves. Unless otherwise noted, you can safely assume that any books/movies/TV shows/albums/songs/objects of aesthetic appreciation listed there are highly recommended for general consumption.

In the beginning, there was nothing.

July 6th, 2005 at 11:55 am (Site News)

With graduation robbing me of my free server space, I suddenly needed a place to dump the products of my various artistic endeavors. And nishmael.net was born.

The intent is twofold: to keep all of my pictures, stories, recordings, essays, and other outpourings of creative energy in one place; and, perhaps more importantly, to motivate me to actually be productive. With any luck, the existence of this site will keep me writing and recording and such during this whole “year off” nonsense. And it has the nice side effect of allowing interested parties to keep track of my artistic output without having to sift through assorted ramblings on Livejournal. Needless to say, all content is copyright 2005 Adam Haley.

(I should also note that my wonderful girlfriend is doing the bulk of the actual work for me, because she’s a) nice and b) geeky.)

Enjoy.
